The invention relates to an LED lamp for use in a lighting unit. The LED lamp comprises an LED as a light source (11) and a heat sink (14) made of heat-conducting material for dissipating heat from the light source (11). The heat sink (14) comprises a carrier surface (12, 13) on which said light source (11) is fastened in a heat transferring manner, wherein the carrier surface (12, 13) is part of a carrier element (16) of the heat sink (14). The heat sink (14) further comprises a base (19) for mounting the LED lamp in a lighting unit, wherein the carrier surface (12, 13) and surface of the base (19) adjacent thereto are at an angle to each other, and the transition between the two surfaces is continuous throughout. Such an LED lamp is disposed in a lighting unit such that the light source (11) thereof is located at least approximately in the optical center of a parabolic mirror-like reflector (25) and that the main beam path of the light from the light source (11) reflected by the reflector (25) runs substantially parallel to the optical axis (26) of the reflector (25). |
