<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing methanol with which excess oxygen produced in the reaction is dissociated and removed in the method of producing methanol by combining carbon dioxide and water with each other and an apparatus for producing the methanol. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the method of producing methanol, the excess oxygen is dissociated and removed by using an anode 2 obtained by filling manganese oxide 10 as an anode 2 in the body 1 of the apparatus for producing the methanol, silver 4 is employed as a catalyst to facilitate the dissociation and discharge of oxygen and further nickel-palladium alloy to facilitate the methanol synthetic reaction is used as a cathode 3.
