PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon-containing alloy for producing a spherical silica powder capable of obtaining the spherical silica powder which hardly exerts adverse influence on an electronic component even if purity of silicon is not high. SOLUTION: In the silicon-containing alloy being a raw material for producing the spherical silica powder by reacting the alloy with oxygen in a flame, the silicon of≥80 mass% is contained and a value of (content of group 13 element)/ä(content of group 5 element)+(content of group 6 element)+(content of group 7 element)} is≥4 in terms of mass. High performance can be exhibited by incorporating group 13 element according to group 5-7 element contents. There is the fear such as elution when the group 5-7 elements are contained in the silica powder. There is a fear that the eluted group 5-7 elements have an undesirable action to electronic parts.
