<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid level measuring device which is simple in structure, easy to handle and usable irrespective of conductivity of a liquid to be measured. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid level measuring device includes: a support 11 provided on a reference plane 10, a reel 13 pivoted by the support 11, a filament member 14 wound around the reel 13 to be fed, a measuring weight 15 connected with a free end of the filament member 14 and hanging toward a liquid level 17a to be measured, a tension sensor 20 provided on the support 11 for detecting that tension of the filament member 14 by suspension of the measuring weight 15 decreases as the weight 15 immerges under the liquid level 17a, and a display means 30 in response to a detection signal of the tension sensor 20. A distance L from the reference plane 10 to the liquid level 17a is read from a fed length of the filament member 14 from the reel 13 while the display means 30 is operating.
