SINGLE CORE BIDIRECTIONAL OPTICAL MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single package type single core bidirectional module (Bi-D) in which the time, required for adjusting the positions and the directions of various components so that the light from a laser diode (LD) reflected on a wavelength-division multiplexing(WDM) filter is guided to a predetermined direction and a condensing lens is disposed at a predetermined position, is reduced.

SOLUTION: The Bi-D 1 includes: a lens cap 7 on which at least a condenser lens 7a is fixed provided for stems 6 on which such elements as a laser diode (LD) 2 and a photo diode (PD) 3 are mounted; and a WDM filter 4 in a package composed by covering the mounting surfaces of the elements to reflect transmitting light emitted from the LD 2 and to pass the receiving light which the PD 3 receives. The WDM filter 4 is fixed on the lens cap 7 with an angle regulated with respect to the optical axis of the condenser lens 7a, the lens cap 7 is fixed on a stem 6 at the position and in the direction adjusted with respect to the stem 6 so that the optical axis of the condenser lens 7a matches the direction of the transmission light reflected on the WDM filter 4 and the light receiving surface of the PD 3.
