NAVIGATOR AND POINT DATA UPDATING PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly useful navigator and a point data updating program which can suitably determine an area that is required by a user and automatically updates point data for the area. SOLUTION: The navigator carries out an updating process for the point data expressing attributes for respective points on a map by receiving provision of updating data is provided with an updating processing means for automatically executing the updating process for the point data surrounding a target point when the target point is set, and a trigger detection means for detecting an input of a point search trigger which triggers the start of the search for the point which is a candidate for the target point. In this case, the updating processing means stops the updating process for the point data surrounding the target area when the target is set from the map without ever having the point search trigger inputted after establishing the state where the point search trigger can be accepted.
