The present invention discloses a method for disinfecting a space by applying an aqueous disinfecting composition as a fine aerosol having a droplet size wherein 50% of the droplets have a diameter of at the most 100μm to a space and leaving the space to air-dry, the aqueous composition comprising: a. hydrogen peroxide in a concentration of 1 to 10% (w/w); b. acyclic carboxylic acid or salt thereof in a concentration of 0.01 to 2% (w/w); c. a humectant in a concentration of 0.05% to 15% (w/w).
