PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a goods storage section and goods from dropping, even if a collision accident among overhead carriers occurs. SOLUTION: The overhead carrier 5 travels along a rail 3, suspended from a ceiling 9 and transports an FOUP 4. The overhead carrier 5 includes a traveling section 21, an elevation driving section 25, a coupling member 62, and a wire 63. The traveling section 21 is supported by a rail 3 and travels along the rail 3. The elevation driving section 25 is suspended from the traveling section 21, and it houses the FOUP 4. The coupling member 62 keeps the traveling section 21 and the elevation driving section 25 in position and couples them with each other.
