Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for generating scrambling codes in a radio communication system, and more particularly, an apparatus and a method using a Gold-like sequence, which can generate scrambling codes for the length 2m-1 of a pseudo-random sequence, wherein m is a multiple of 4. The apparatus of the present invention comprises two LFSRs, i.e., LFSR a and LFSR a', which generate the Gold-like sequence by two m-order polynomials different from each other, wherein specifically the LFSR a' is constituted by the reciprocal primitive polynomial of an m-order primitive polynomial on GF(2) used for constituting LFSR a. Further, to generate 2m-number of scrambling codes different from each other, the present invention inputs one fixed initial value to the LFSR a, and inputs different initial values of m-bit to the LFSR a' in accordance with system-specific information. |
