摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make appropriate determination based on differential pressure across a catalyst detected in a stable state in a hybrid vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine is suitably applied to the hybrid vehicle. A motoring control means performs motoring of the internal combustion engine by a motor-generator in a speed-reducing fuel cut-off time after the completion of PM regeneration. While such motoring is performed, a determining means determines the shortage of PM regeneration when the differential pressure of the catalyst (the differential pressure across the catalyst) is a first predetermined value or more, and determines the catalyst to be abnormal when the differential pressure across the catalyst is a second predetermined value or less.
