<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise reduction apparatus that prevents the deterioration of picture quality in a digital video signal having large movement of an object. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The noise reduction apparatus 1 reduces noise that is superimposed to a digital video signal, and it includes: an input terminal T<SB>IN1</SB>to which the digital video signal is input; an input terminal T<SB>IN2</SB>to which a level value indicating noise level is input; a median filter 11 to select a median of target pixels in a plurality of frames; a pixel value detection means 12 to detect a pixel value of the target pixel of a certain frame; a threshold setting means 13 to set a threshold corresponding to the level value; a pixel setting value computation means 14 to compute the specified pixel setting value; a noise reducing means 15 to set the pixel setting value as an output signal; and an output terminal T<SB>OUT</SB>to output an output signal.
