PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy wire which is excellent in corrosion resistance, an aluminum alloy twisted wire, an insulated wire using the alloy twisted wire as a conductor, and a wire with a terminal having the insulated wire. SOLUTION: In the aluminum alloy wire used for a conductor of an electric wire for a vehicle, a covered layer is provided on an outer surface of an end of the alloy wire wherein a terminal member made of copper and a copper alloy is mounted. The outermost layer of the covered layer is made of nickel or a nickel alloy. A battery is formed between the aluminum alloy and the copper or the copper alloy, so that an aluminum alloy is corroded. Alternatively, a potential difference between the copper and the nickel is small, so that the battery is hardly made between the copper and the nickel. Accordingly, the nickel or the nickel alloy exists on the surface of the aluminum alloy wire, thereby reducing electrolytic corrosion between the aluminum alloy and the terminal member.
