PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety helmet having a shielding member almost completely covering the face of a wearing person and minimizing an increase in size and weight. SOLUTION: The safety helmet 1 includes: a bowl-like helmet body 3 enlarged only at a front side and furnished with ear portions 7 covering ears; an engaging portion 11 having a plate form furnished with a curved surface along the inner surface of the front side of the helmet body 3 and engaging with a guide portion 13 formed on the ear portion 7 of the helmet body 3; and a shielding plate 5 turning around the engaging portion 11, by engaging the engaging portion 11 with the guide portion 13, between a housed position P1 to house the shielding plate in the front side of the body 3 and a covering position P3 to almost completely cover the face of the person wearing the helmet body 3.
