PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical waveguide capable of enhancing the use efficiency of incident light rays. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide 20 includes: a first clad 24; a core 26 having a refractive index larger than that of the first clad 24; and a second clad 28 having a refractive index smaller than that of the core 26. A tilt part 48 is formed at the incident part 38 of the core 26, wherein the peripheral edge of the incident part 38 on the incident side of signal light L is expanded toward the incident direction of the signal light L. By the formation of the tilt part 48 on the incident side periphery of the incident part 38, the reflection of the signal light L incident to the incident part 38 at the periphery of the incident part is suppressed and the use efficiency of the signal light L is improved.
