PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress remarkable appearance of change in hue caused by curving of an equal-hue line of input color values on a device non-dependent color space accompanying color gamut conversion. SOLUTION: Information for associating a hue value on an RGB color space which represents an optional hue with a hue value on a JCh color space which represents the same hue correspondent to each other is registered in a hue control table and a condition of conversion for performing color gamut conversion on the JCh color space on a color value RGB on the RGB color space is generated. In this case, a hue Hdev on the RGB color space that a color value RGB at a certain grid point represents is computed (72), a hue h' on the JCh color space corresponding to the hue Hdev is found by linear interpolation based upon the information registered in the hue control table (74), a color value JCh on the JCh color space is found from the color value RGB (76, 78), and processing for replacing a hue (h) among color values JCh with the hue h' (80) is performed on all grid points to generate the condition of conversion from the color value RGB to the color value JCh.
