PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expiration date reader capable of stably reading expiration date information attached to a product. SOLUTION: An expiration date detector 20 for reading an expiration date print part (M) shown on the product includes: an imaging sensor S for reading and detecting the expiration date print part (M); and a position regulating means for regulating a relative positional relationship between the product to be detected and the imaging sensor S to allow the image sensor S to detect the expiration date print part (M) of the product. The position regulating means has a recessed part 30 to be fitted to a part of the product, and preferably, regulates a relative positional relationship between the product, a part of which is fitted to the recess part 30, and the imaging sensor S.
