PURPOSE: An apparatus for streaming a multimedia file in a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to offer a streaming service by using a minimum memory. CONSTITUTION: A file generating unit(104) generates new metadata with media data offset of a circular type on the basis of metadata. The file generating unit stores media data included in the packet received to the circular type according to the media data offset included in the new metadata in storage. A streaming management unit(102) loads the media data stored in the storage according to the media data offset included in the new metadata.
