PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing technique for performing underlayer removal, by achieving sequential processing without requiring page memory of a continuous tone image, and also by processing where an output image quality is hardly deteriorated due to processing failure responding to a type of reading manuscript. SOLUTION: Input image data are changed into intensity constituents so as to calculate a difference quantity of the intensity constituent and a threshold. The amount of count change is determined based on the calculated difference quantity, and tracking variation of the threshold is carried out using counter. While using a threshold calculated by the tracking variation, the underlayer removal processing in each pixel is carried out by signal converting processing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
