TRAVEL CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce feeling of discomfort given to a driver by vehicle acceleration regarding a travel control device for a vehicle.

SOLUTION: The travel control device includes: a preceding vehicle detection means which detects a preceding vehicle within a predetermined range in front of one's own vehicle; and a travel control means which performs follow-up control to make the own vehicle follow-up the preceding vehicle while maintaining a target inter-vehicle distance or a target inter-vehicle time when detecting the preceding vehicle within the predetermined range by the preceding vehicle detection means. The travel control device further includes: a road shape detection means which detects the linearity of the road shape in the advancing direction of the own vehicle; and a preceding vehicle detection range changing means which changes the predetermined range where the preceding vehicle should be detected by the preceding vehicle detection means according to the linearity of the road shape detected by the road shape detection means.
