It is possible to display thumbnail images desired by a user in an appropriate display order in accordance with the movement direction of the focus on the thumbnail image by the user so as to improve the thumbnail search efficiency and the user's satisfaction degree. A display device (100) includes: a thumbnail display control unit (184) which divides thumbnail images (202) arranged according to a predetermined condition into a plurality of pages having an identical number of images and causes an external or an internal monitor (view finder (108)) to display the thumbnails while maintaining the arrangement order; and a thumbnail switching control unit (190) which switches the pages from one to another in accordance with user's selection. When the thumbnail switching control unit switches the page to the opposite direction, the thumbnail display control unit displays a new page of thumbnail images in a display order opposite to the arrangement order.
