<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission capable of reducing the engagement loss of a gear during a light load. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Out of plurality gears constituting a transmission, at least one shaft of the gear is supported by a bearing having a moving mechanism so as to change an engagement length with a mating gear, and changed in the engagement length of the gear by moving the shaft depending on load torque information. When the load torque is large, the engagement length is relatively increased for necessary and sufficient torque transmission. When the load torque is small, the engagement length is reduced to reduce the engagement loss. As a result, all over the usage state in which a load torque changes in a large or small way, a necessary torque can be sufficiently transmitted and the transmission efficiency can be improved.
