PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backrest easy to be installed on the existing backrest of a wheelchair or the like (namely, backrest on the part of a wheelchair) and used in comfort by the user. SOLUTION: A removable backrest 10, installed on a backrest 21 prepared beforehand on the part of a chair 20 so that the chair height can extend upward, above the backrest 21 includes a backrest body 11 to be arranged on the front face of the backrest 21 and a fixing means 12 to fix the backrest body 11 to the chair backrest 21. A protrusion 11a is provided protruding downward from the bottom edge of the backrest body 11. For fixing the backrest body 11 to the chair backrest 21, the downward protrusion 11a can be inserted into the clearance between the seat plate 22 and the backrest 21 of the chair 20.
