The arrangement (18) comprises flue gas washers for spraying water into the flue gas (20) or a flue gas condenser (33), and a device (1) for biological decomposition of carbon-containing compounds and/or odorous materials of the water delivered from the flue gas washer or condensate delivered from the flue gas condenser. The device and/or the washer contain a biologically active species e.g. algae. The arrangement is designed, so that the biologically active species is sprayed together with the water into the flue gas. The flue gas washer is arranged to the flue gas condenser. The washers are parallelly or serially connected to the device. The arrangement is formed, so that the water is circulated in a circuit through the flue gas washer and the device. The device has light-conducting fibers for supplying sunlight. An independent claim is included for a method for treating flue gas.
