A method and apparatus for temperature control has a first temperature sensor 7 provided outside a temperature sensitive space 1, an airflow conduit 8 for connecting the interior of the temperature sensitive space to the outside of the temperature sensitive space and an air chiller 6 for generating chilled air within the temperature sensitive space. A fan 4 for drawing air from the outside into the temperature sensitive space through the conduit, has an associated control unit 5 for switching the air chiller off and allowing air flow along the conduit when the temperature detected by the first temperature sensor is equal to or less than a first predetermined temperature. The air flow can be fan controlled or it can be controlled by a valve arrangement (10 fig 2) which permits flow or blocks the conduit airflow path. The arrangement may also include a second temperature sensor 9 for measuring temperature in the temperature sensitive space, which may be a beer cellar. The arrangement provides energy saving by permitting cold ambient air to be delivered to the temperature sensitive space, when the ambient air is cold enough to cool the space, allowing the chiller to be turned off. |
