PURPOSE: An air-conditioner and a method for detecting a fault reason in an air-conditioner are provided to determine whether a communication fault occurs by comparing the communication signal of an air-conditioner with a normal communications signal and to accurately find the reason of a communication fault. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting a fault reason in an air-conditioner comprises the following steps. Whether a communication fault is generated or not by comparing the received communications signal with a normal communication signal(300). If the communication fault is generated as the determined result, the reason of the communication fault is detected by checking whether the communication signal is generated under one among the multiple conditions of the communication fault. A first communications fault condition among the multiple conditions of the communication fault is a case that: the signal which is communicated in a RS-485 mode is not received; and a first and a second transform units changing a first and a second communication signals into the size of the first and the second communication signals do not receive the first and the second communication signals during a designated time. If the communication signals come under the first communication fault condition(302), the short circuit of a communication line is detected the reason of the communication fault(303). |
