Preparing a dispersion of graphene particles or flakes, comprises: (a) supplying a carbon-based material; (b) dispersing the material in an aqueous or organic liquid to obtain a dispersion; (c) microwave heating the dispersion to obtain a dispersion containing graphene particles or flakes and carbon raw material; and (d) separating the graphene dispersion from carbon-raw material to obtain a dispersion of graphene particles or flakes. An independent claim is included for a system comprising the dispersion of graphene particles or flakes obtained by the method deposited on a substrate.
