The arrangement has a scanning unit (2) including a sensor (3) for sensing action potentials (A) at a position of a body surface (H) that lies in relation to a predetermined position. The scanning unit is arranged in a carrier (1), and the sensor produces sensor signals depending on sensing of the action potentials. The scanning unit includes a communication module (6) for transmission of information to an evaluation system, where the information represents the sensor signals of the sensor and digital identification of the scanning unit. An independent claim is also included for a medical diagnostic system for detecting and evaluating action potentials of nerve cells in a human or animal body.
