PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder structure of internal combustion engine having reduced piston slap noise generated by the reversal of direction of applied thrust force. SOLUTION: The cylinder structure includes a cylinder liner 1, and a piston 2 axially reciprocating radially inside the cylinder liner. The direction of the radial thrust force applied to the piston reverses from the direction F1 pointing toward one side of thrust direction, which is a direction applied with the thrust force when the piston moves from the bottom dead center BDC to the top dead center TDC, to the direction F2 pointing toward the other side. The one side of inner circumferential surface 5a positioning at the one side of the piston, between inner circumferential surfaces opposed to each other in the thrust direction, is formed with a guide part 6 protruding radially inward. The position where the guide part is installed is the position radially opposed to the piston when the direction of the thrust force reverses from the direction toward the one side to the direction toward the other side.
