PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly separate a gesture locus and a character locus within a useful time from a locus group in which the gesture locus and the character locus are mixed. SOLUTION: An apparatus has gesture locus data recognition means for performing processing of recognizing gesture locus data included in locus data based on feature data of the locus data and gesture shape feature data included in gesture dictionary data, and for output of results of the processing, separating means for separating the gesture locus data and locus data except for the gesture locus data from the locus data based on results in the gesture locus data recognition means, and character locus data recognition means for performing the processing for recognizing the locus data of the character included in the locus data except for the gesture locus data based on feature data of the locus data except for the gesture locus data separated in the separating means and locus feature data of the character included in character dictionary data, and for output of the results of the processing.
