<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching mechanism for optical component configured to move an optical component to be on and off an optical path while avoiding inaccurate positioning of the optical component caused by backlash. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The switching mechanism for optical component includes: the optical component 31; a holder member 32 holding the optical component 31; a drive mechanism 40 having a drive motor 41 that drives the optical component 31 to rotate on a plane orthogonal to an optical axis from an optical axis position to an evacuation position; a holding member 37 holding the drive motor 41; and a restriction member 36a restricting a rotation of the holder member 32. The drive mechanism 40 includes the drive motor 41, a worm 44 provided on a plane and attached to a rotation shaft 43 of the drive motor 41, and a worm wheel 32c meshed with the worm 44 and provided to the holder member 32 integrally. A rotation feed direction in which the optical component 31 is driven toward the restriction member 36a in the optical axis position with a rotation of the worm 44 is a direction in which the optical component 31 comes close to the drive motor 41.
