<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an actuator in a variable valve gear for an internal combustion engine in which a movable member supported by a camshaft in such a manner that the same can move in an axial direction is pressed toward one axial direction by the actuator and is energized toward another axial direction by an elastic spring member and which changes the operation characteristics of engine valves by controlling the change-over of operation and operation stop of the actuator. <P>SOLUTION: The movable member 52 provided with engagement pins 53, 55 is supported by a camshaft 29 in such a manner that the same can move in an axial direction but can not relatively rotate. The actuator 61 is connected to the movable member 52 so as to move the movable member 52 to a side disengaging a free cam 50 of the engagement pins 53, 55 when the actuator 61 operates. A coil shape elastic spring member 62 surrounding the camshaft 29 is put between the movable member 52 and an engine body 15 or the camshaft 29 in such a manner that the same generates elastic spring force energizing the movable member 52 to a side engaging the free cam 50 with the engagement pins 53, 55. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
