<p>A light-emitting diode (LED) driving circuit capable of preventing degradation of display quality is provided in a display apparatus using light-emitting diodes as backlight. The LED driving circuit (100), which drives a plurality of series-connected LEDs (LEDs 1-4), comprises switches (SWs 1-4) each of which is connected in parallel to the respective one of the LEDs or to a respective group of ones of the LEDs; and a PWM signal generating unit that generates PWM signals for switching the on/off states of the switches in accordance with target brightnesses of the LEDs. The switches are turned on or off according to the results of comparing the values of associated counters (CNT1, CNT2) with the values of associated registers (RDs 1-4). In this way, the LEDs are caused to emit light only during desired intervals, thereby adjusting the brightnesses of the LEDs.</p> |
