The fuel injector has an injecting valve member hydraulically controlled by an actuator over a valve rod (22) and a hydraulic valve (48). The valve rod is connected with the actuator by a hydraulic coupler (54) with a coupling area (30). The valve rod is guided into two guiding areas. One of the guiding areas is arranged at an end of the valve rod, and another guiding area is arranged at another end of the valve rod. Guide diameter of the former guiding area is larger than guide diameter of the latter guiding area. A lower valve rod part is attached to the hydraulic valve.
