<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new alloy which can instantaneously reach a prescribed high temperature when energized and has excellent heat generation efficiency, energization durability and workability, and also to provide a resistance heating element using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The alloy has a composition which contains at least ferrochrome, indium, boron and titanium, wherein a mass ratio of (indium)/(ferrochrome) ranges from 0.05 to 0.2, a mass ratio of (boron)/(ferrochrome) ranges from 0.1 to 0.2, and a mass ratio of (titanium)/(ferrochrome) ranges from 0.03 to 0.3.
