The present invention relates to a 3D caption signal transmission method and a caption display method which allow a caption text to be displayed three-dimensionally to match with a 3D image in a 3D display device. The 3D caption signal transmission method of the present invention involves generating 3D caption box setting information and a caption text for displaying a 3D caption in a 3D image, inserting the 3D caption box setting information and the caption text into a video picture header region, and encoding and transmitting the image signal. Meanwhile, the caption display method of the present invention involves receiving a broadcast signal containing a 3D image signal, acquiring 3D caption box setting information and a caption text contained in the broadcast signal, and generating and displaying a caption image having a 3D caption text arranged in a 3D caption box, based on the 3D caption box setting information and the caption text.
