<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain an exhaust emission control device from being deteriorated caused by bringing an exhaust emission control catalyst into a temperature excessively higher with respect to an exhaust temperature. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine 1 includes a fuel injection valve 25 for injecting fuel, and the exhaust emission control catalyst 34 provided in an exhaust pipe 30 to emission-control an exhaust, and the exhaust emission control device further includes a catalyst temperature estimating means S4 for estimating a temperature of the exhaust emission control catalyst 34 based on an exhaust temperature and an air-fuel ratio, and a fuel injection amount increasing means S10 for increasing a fuel injection amount injected from the fuel injection valve 25 based on the estimated temperature of the exhaust emission control catalyst 34.
