PURPOSE: A cathode active material and a secondary lithium battery including the same are provided to obtain high capacity when the cathode active material is introduced to the secondary lithium battery, to improve thermal stability, and to maintain conductivity by coating an ion conductive solid compound on the surface of lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide. CONSTITUTION: A cathode active material is comprised of lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide which is marked as a chemical formula of Li_xM_yO_2. The content of nickel in the lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide is more than 40%. An ion conductive solid compound is coated on the surface of the lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide. The lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide has an aggregated structure. An average particle diameter of the lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide is 3-20 μm. |
