[Also in Groups XXV and XXXIV] An adjustable clevis assembly for adjusting the length of a cable, such as is used for a vehicle handbrake linkage, comprises a clevis 6 which is secured to a screwed rod 1 by a flanged sleeve nut 2, the nut 2 has substantially flat surface 5 thereon, whereby it may be gripped by corresponding surface 10 on the inside of the bush 9, as shown in Fig. 2. The nut 2 being prevented from rotation by locking the bush 9 by a lock nut 11 and washer 12 bearing against its outer end. In order to adjust the assembly, the lock nut 11 is slacked off and the bush 9 and nut 2 are rotated together by a suitable spanner. |
