<p>808,283. Coating wires &c. by extrusion. BUZULUK KOMAROV NARODNI PODNIK, and NOVAK, V. Sept. 30, 1955 [Oct. 25, 1954], No. 27861/55. Class 87(2). A hollow screw conveyer 1 is mounted on a tube 3, both rotatable together, and a double thread 12 on the surface of the supporting tube 3 provides a channel for cooling the screw by liquid which enters from a chamber 17 through a port 18 and passes along a groove 13 and leaves along a groove 14 and through a chamber 19. The screw 1 fits in the liner 11 of a cylinder 10 from which a nozzle 9 is supported through a member 21, being held agains the pressure of the material by a screw cap 22. The inside of the nozzle 9 and member 21 together form continous converging internal conical surfaces. A guide tube 5 within the tube 3 narrows to a discharge opening 24 coaxial with the orifice 23 of the nozzle 9. The guide tube 5 can move axially within limits but is prevented from rotation. The discharge ends of the supporting tube 3 and of the guide tube 5 are enlarged and shaped so that together they form external conical surfaces stepped to receive a ring 8, supported by webs 25, which centre the end of the tube 5 and is also shaped to form part of an external conical surface. Coating material, e.g. insulation, is impelled by the screw 1 and guided to the orifice 23 between the internal and external conical surfaces. Elongated material to be coated, e.g. wire, is caused, in known manner, to pass through the guide tube 5 and its opening 24, and the wire leaves the orifice 23 provided with a uniform coating. The cone parts 2 and 4 at the ends of the tubes 3 and 5 are formed with opposite transverse bearing faces and the back pressure of the material behind the orifice forces the faces together, the tube 5 shifting axially, and seals against escape of material. When the back pressure is insufficient the faces are kept in contact by a spring 7 which presses on a flange 26 on the end of the tube 5, through which also bolts 6 pass to prevent rotation.</p> |
