PURPOSE: A device and a method for estimating an instantaneous channel using grouping MMSE in an OFDM wireless communication system is provided to reduce a noise power through grouping pilot estimated based on correlation information of a pilot signal, thereby increasing whole data reception performance and a system capacity. CONSTITUTION: An instantaneous channel estimator(402) extracts a pilot signal from a signal received from a base station and then estimates an instantaneous channel. A channel correlation estimator(403) extracts correlation relation between the instantaneous channels. A group size determiner(404) uses the correlation relation to determine a optimal group size. A group channel determiner(405) uses the group sixe to determine a plurality of pilot channels into one group channel. An interpolator(406) estimates instantaneous channel of data section by using a weighted value.
