<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which achieves communication between the image-forming device and a cartridge with simple composition. <P>SOLUTION: An image-forming device is provided, which makes image-forming processing by using consumable articles supplied from a cartridge. The cartridge has a storage medium, which stores information related to the image-forming processing, and a cartridge-side optical device which performs optical communication with the image-forming device. The image-forming device includes a device-side optical device, which is used for the image-forming processing, and a device-side control part which controls the optical communication.
