PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent imaging of many similar pictures even in the case of imaging the pictures continuously. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an imaging means for generating an image data as a moving image or a still image by picking up an object image, a recording means for recording the image data showing the generated still image to a storage medium, a detecting means for detecting a degree of change in the object image from the still image shown by the image data recorded at the previous time by monitoring the moving image generated by the imaging means, and a control means for controlling the recording means to execute recording of the next still image in accordance with the detecting result of the detecting means.
