<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for an electrochemical battery and its manufacturing method, and an electrochemical battery using the made. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode for an electrochemical battery has a higher porosity at an upper layer part of an electrode active material coated on a surface of a current collector than the porosity at a lower layer part. With this, the electrode contains the electrode active material with porosity adjusted, and especially, even after being rolled, there is little difference in porosity between an electrode inside and an electrode surface, or rather, a higher porosity is obtained at the surface portion to improve impregnation property for electrolyte solution, and as a result, other charge/discharge characteristics are improved since capacity fall-off is relatively small even at high rate charge/discharge.
