<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent body inspection device for determining how deep a defect exists in, when the defect exists within a transparent body which is an object to be inspected. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A photographing means 2 is moved by a photographing/moving means 3 in a direction that brings it close to or in a direction that keeps it away from the transparent body 17. Photographing is performed a plurality of times by the photographing means 2 while it is moved in the direction that brings it close to or in the direction that keeps it away from the transparent body 17. It is determined by a defect decision means 12 that the defect is in the depth of field when images are taken when luminance of pixels is uneven in the images taken by the photographing means 2.
