PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thrust transfer member for a caisson, which enables water sealing to be surely and inexpensively applied to a joint by providing a water sealing plate in the joint between the caissons connected together, and a method for constructing the underground structure using the same. SOLUTION: The plurality of caissons A1 following a roof made of box-shaped pipe roofs juxtaposed in ground are sequentially jacked forward by a base-pushing jack 4, so that the underground structure can be constructed in the ground. In this case, a pressing ring 1 is interposed between a back end surface of the caisson A1 and the base-pushing jack 4. The pressing ring 1 comprises a first abutting portion 1a which abuts on the back end surface of the caisson A1 and which has an opening undergoing the insertion of a water sealing plate 5 protruding from the back end surface, a second abutting portion 1b which abuts on the base-pushing jack 4, and a connecting portion which connects the first and second abutting portions 1a and 1b at a longitudinal interval equivalent to/longer than the protrusion length of the water sealing plate 5.
