PURPOSE: A microwave steam cooking container system is provided to enable food to be cooked with only steam without the exposure to the microwave radiation by encapsulating a microwave shielding element in the microwave transmitting material of a container. CONSTITUTION: A microwave steam cooking container system(10) comprises a water tray(12), a food container(14), and a cover(18). The food container comprises a plurality of holes, outer and inner walls, a microwave shielding material. The holes are formed at the bottom. The microwave shielding material is encapsulated between the inner and outer walls. The cover comprises the inner and outer walls, and the microwave shielding material. The microwave shielding material of the cover is encapsulated between the inner and outer walls. The food container is staked in the water tray and can be removed from it. The food container prevents the food from being directly exposed to microwave energy at the location where the container is fit.
