<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an output image with contrast on luminance of an input image adjusted. <P>SOLUTION: This image processing method for adjusting the luminance value of each pixel included in an input image includes: dividing a closed regionβ(x, y) configured of a plurality of pixels in an input image as an arithmetic target region; and shifting the arithmetic target region by prescribed pixel units in the input image. In this case, the maximum value and minimum value of luminance energy defined as a luminance array in the arithmetic target region are calculated respectively, and the difference data of the luminance energy are calculated (step S4).
