PHOSPHORUS ADSORBENT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphorus adsorbent with high moldability. SOLUTION: Alumina particles are blended with water glass and an obtained mixture (slurry) is applied onto a substrate 12 and then is molded. Thereafter a molded mixture is dried by heating at 100 to 900°C and a dried mixture is dipped in acetic acid of 0.01 to 1 mol/L to perform acid treatment. The phosphorus adsorbent 10 thus manufactured includes a silica phase functioning as a binder and alumina particles, and has high moldability. Further the silica phase existing near the alumina particles functions as a buffer to stabilize pH of treated water. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
