PURPOSE: An electronic type wattmeter capable of secluding the stand-by power and a control method thereof are provided to automatically seclude the standby power by using a switch for the progress of the set up time. CONSTITUTION: A stand-by power metric circuit unit(3a) is connected from the power source(1) to the wiring to a load device(2). The stand-by power metric circuit unit senses the off state of the load device based on the voltage of the wiring. The stand-by power metric circuit unit computes the stand-by power amount according to the detection voltage, the detection current and elapsed time by sensing the off state of the load device. A display unit(3f) is connected to the stand-by power metric circuit unit. The display unit displays the stand-by power amount offered from the stand-by power metric circuit unit path.
