The method involves selecting and executing a starting mode (20,22,24) as a function of a boundary condition (10) from two starting modes with different torque- and rotary speed characteristics. The different rotary speed characteristics start with similar control of the electrical machine. The different torque characteristics are set by adjusting an internal combustion engine.
